1. Active sentences:
+ is a sentence in which the subject is the person or thing performing the
action.
Ex : They clean this house everyday.
2. Passive sentences (Passive sentences):
+ is a sentence in which the subject is the person or thing that receives or is
affected by the action.
Part 1
I . Active and Passive Sentences (Câu
(chủ động và câu bị động) .
1. Active sentences(Câu chủ động) :
+ là câu trong đó chủ ngữ là người hay vật thực hiện hành động.
Ex : They clean this house everyday.
2. Pasive sentences(Câu bị động) :
+là câu trong đó chủ ngữ là người hay vật nhận hoặc chịu tác động của hành
động.

1. The subject of an active sentence becomes the object of a passive sentence
after the preposition "by"
2. The verb changes to the past participle form (V3 .)
3. Take the object in the active sentence into the subject of the passive sentence
4.Adding "tobe" after the Subject.:tobe" harmonizes with the subject in terms of
number and tense

– Notes :
+ If the subject in the active sentence is a definite proper name, we use it
again in the passive sentence as the object after the preposition "by".
E.x: Mr Pike, Ms Mary,…
Ex : This car is repaired by Mr Pike
+ The subjects I, we ,you ,they ,she ,he ,it ,one ……, people ,someone,
somebody ,.. in active sentences are often omitted, not used in passive
sentences.
Ex: She often borrows my bicycle.
My bicycle is often borrowed.
+ Adverbs (adverbs) of time come after "by"
Ex : The report is typed by the student this morning
+ Adverbs (adverbs) of place are preceded by "by"
– Ex : He is found in the forest by the police
– Chú ý :
+ Nếu chủ ngữ trong câu chủ động là tên riêng xác định thì ta sử dụng lại
trong câu bị động làm tân ngữ theo sau giới từ “by”.
E.x: Mr Pike, Ms Mary,…
Ex : This car is repaired by Mr Pike
+ Các chủ ngữ I, we ,you ,they ,she ,he ,it ,one ……, people ,someone,
somebody ,..trong câu chủ động thường được lược bỏ,không dùng trong câu bị
động.
Ex: She often borrows my bicycle.
My bicycle is often borrowed.
+Trạng từ (ngữ) chỉ thời gian thì đứng sau”by”
Ex : The report is typed by the student this morning
